Notes
1979 Omega 28, EUR 12,900
The sailboat is in oldtown Siracusa (Ortigia) in a private boat club (option for mooring).
The last years I have invested extra 10.000€ in the boat.
Price is negotable.
New layers of gelshied, primer and antifouling (see picture), new seacocks all around, 10 months on ground to dry.
I have the last 1-2 years installed new solar panel/converter/batteries, new electric toilet, new front platform, new fabric on all matresses, new stereo player/speakers, new electric winch/chain, water and bilge pump, new bimini, etc etc.
The boat also got new rig wires 5 years ago.
The Omega 28 has a lot of buoyancy to lean on when she starts to heel, a great way to combine performance with large internal volume.
It’s a boat that not only sails well but it is nice inside, with plenty of teak, and plenty of storage inside and outside. It can accommodate 5 people: 2 in the front, 2 in the middle and one in the berth under the cockpit starboard side.
The boat has a tall 12m mast and fractional rig 7/8.
The Omegas were built with thick fiberglass, hand laminated.
The engine is an early Yanmar, a one cylinder YSB8 8 hp (a cheap, durable diesel used once by many Asian fishermen boats). The insulation of the engine compartment is good, the engine is not too noisy.
These boats have no known cases of osmosis in the +200 models built.
This particular boat, “Ronja”, was owned by the previous owner for about 10 years, it was very lightly sailed all her life, usually just one month a year in the waters of the Stockholm’s Archipelago in Sweden, where water salinity is 1/5th of normal salt water (hence minimal corrosion) and winds and waves are very mild or often completely absent (hence no pounding or stress on the rig). The rest of the year the boat was kept outside of the water, covered.
In spring 2016, previous owner sailed Ronja from Sweden to Rostock (Germany) and then from there we transported it to Antibes (France) on a truck, and then from there we sailed it to Sardinia (Italy), before it the last years have been located in the lovely old town in Sicily, Siracusa.
