JEANNEAU SUN ODYSSEY 40 DS - THE FAMILY DECK SALOON BUILT FOR YEAR-ROUND CRUISING

Built by Jeanneau in 2003, the Sun Odyssey 40 DS stands apart in the range: the Deck Saloon layout brings a raised, light-filled saloon with panoramic views outside, a rare feature on a 12-metre yacht. Construction and seakeeping

Polyester hull, 12.20 m overall with a 3.95 m beam and 1.95 m draft, displacing 7,200 kg: balanced proportions that give the boat good stiffness under sail and sound manners at sea. Teak deck and teak cockpit. The rig is served by a furling mainsail and a genoa, both from 2021, together with spinnaker gear, backstay, mainsail track and car, halyard turning blocks and anti-UV strip.

Power and cruising capacity

A four-cylinder VOLVO D2-55 diesel from 2023, showing 1,000 hours, drives a shaft transmission. Cruising speed 7 knots, 11 knots maximum, with consumption around 2 l/h: range is comfortable with 136 litres of fuel and 320 litres of fresh water. Below, three cabins, eight berths, a convertible saloon, oven, electric refrigerator (2023), hot water and EBERSRACHER heating (2023) make year-round use realistic.
