Surprisingly little deviates from the Hanse 325, as they share an identical hull with only minor design changes. Several hundred units were built up until 2015/2016, and the next owner will become part of a very welcoming and helpful global community where all aspects of boat ownership are discussed.
Tacking is a dream with the self-tacking jib—there are no lines to haul when coming about. Reducing sail area is extremely easy and highly effective for eliminating unnecessary heel, thanks to excellent sails and a single-line reefing system for the mainsail.
What makes South Star stand out, and perhaps makes her the finest example on the market, can be summarized as follows;
- Only two owners, both of whom have invested continuously to keep the boat and its equipment in top-notch condition.
- Near-flawless hull and interior finish below deck.
- A premium sail wardrobe from North Sails and Elvström Sails: 2 x mainsails, 2 x self-tacking jibs, and a Code 55 on a furler.
- One of few examples featuring a gray hull.
- The Hanse upgrade package, including hull windows.
- Rarely equipped with a tiller, which, combined with the tiller extension, allows the helmsman to manage all sail handling and navigation single-handedly. Unfortunately, this is not possible if you choose the standard steering wheel option. Additionally, there is an autopilot from 2025 if you still wish to let go of the helm.
- Garmin "Active Captain" software, offering synchronized navigation across the plotter, iPad, or iPhone.
- Almost all engine servicing has been performed annually by an authorized Yanmar dealer.
- Extensive equipment upgrades, providing the next owner with the best possible setup for years to come with low running costs. Upgrades include: sails, instruments, plotter, autopilot, AIS, VHF, interior textiles, exterior textiles (sprayhood, cockpit tent, and stack pack/sail pack), stove/oven, 3-blade folding propeller with over-drive function, 4G router, remote monitoring (cameras and sensors), sail drive rubber diaphragm (sail drive gaiter), etc.
The list of improvements and investments could go on, but in short, we and the previous owner have made long-term investments exceeding 50.000€, in addition to the premium options chosen when the boat was new.
We may potentially consider retaining a 50% or 33% ownership share, for those interested in a co-owning model.
