1985 ECROLON PTY GERMAN FRERS 48, EUR 49,000
GERMAN FRERS 48 - A BLUEWATER ALUMINIUM CRUISER FROM A MASTER'S BOARD
Designed by German Frers and built in 1985 by Ecrolon Pty, this 48-footer in aluminium belongs to the generation of yachts conceived for open water rather than the marina. Fourteen and a half metres of hull, a benchmark design and metal construction: the classic profile of a genuine voyaging boat, offered here at €49,000 incl. VAT.
Build and seakeeping
Aluminium hull and deck, 14.50 m overall, 4.20 m beam, 2.35 m draft and 10,400 kg displacement: figures that speak of a strong, stiff and reassuring boat offshore. The rig is served by a removable inner forestay, staysail, bowsprit, adjustable backstay, mainsail track and car. The wardrobe includes a fully battened mainsail, a DCX jib and three spinnakers with their dedicated gear.
Power and life aboard
A 55 hp Volvo D2-55 fitted in 2007, four cylinders with seawater cooling, shows 1,000 hours and drives a shaft. At 8 knots cruising for 2 l/h with a 200-litre tank, motoring range is comfortable. Below, 2 cabins and 5 berths, 6 people aboard, a convertible saloon, hot water, cooker and electric fridge.
Equipment
An opportunity worth taking
A Frers design in aluminium, rigged for voyaging and well equipped for energy autonomy, at a price rarely seen in this segment. Well worth an early viewing.
