Windy 44 Chinook 2010 — Built for Performance, Designed for Company
The deep-V hull, the sharp Norwegian lines, twin Volvo Penta D6 engines… everything that made the Chinook one of Windy's most capable sport cruisers is still here, unaltered. What sets this particular boat apart is what you find below deck.
Windy made a deliberate choice with this model: keep the saloon compact, and let the cabins have the space instead. The result is three full-size double cabins, not a single bunk bed among them, something genuinely rare in this size class.
Under her current owner since 2019, she's been serviced continuously by marine technicians, first at Kornhalls varv, more recently at Fantasivarvet Skaftö, and stored indoors every winter of her life.
In 2026, the drivelines went through a full service: drives serviced and pressure-tested, bellows replaced, new generators and starter motors on both engines.
he electrical system was overhauled at the same time, with new lithium batteries for house power and a serious Victron system, MultiPlus II charging and inverting, monitored easily via app.
Performance:
Windy is a name synonymous with performance, and this Chinook is no exception.
Her deep-V hull cuts through the sea rather than fighting it, and the twin Volvo Penta D6 engines, 370hp each for a combined 740hp, deliver a comfortable cruising speed of 30 knots and a top speed of 38 knots according to Windy's own specification.
Helm Station:
The helm holds a few details rarely seen on other models. The chartplotter sits on an electrically adjustable panel, tilt it down when seated, back up when standing at the wheel. The skipper has their own adjustable seat, with a three-person sofa right alongside, so up to four people get to be part of the ride, not just the person driving.
Navigation was fully updated in 2020: new Garmin plotter, AIS (transmit and receive), and radar.
In the harbour, the Volvo Penta joystick and proportional bow and stern thrusters, upgraded a few years back with a hold function, make docking and mooring genuinely stress-free.
Cockpit:
This is where the Chinook shows her social side. A huge U-shaped sofa wraps around the table, comfortable seating for the whole group.
The table lowers electrically and, with a cushion on top, becomes a proper sunbed, working equally well for lunch or an afternoon in the sun.
The wetbar on the port side offers a sink, fridge, ice maker, and a proper grill, no trips down to the galley required.
A cockpit cover keeps the whole area sheltered well beyond the best days of summer.
Salon & Galley:
The saloon is deliberately compact, a functional space rather than the main stage: cooking, grabbing a drink, prepping something for the grill, before time is spent back in the cockpit to enjoy the archipelago.
Two large skylights fill the space with natural light, making it equally suited to a quiet morning coffee or a few hours of remote work.
The galley runs along the port side with plenty of workspace and a fully electric setup, stove replaced in 2025.
Storage beneath the floorboards is unusually generous, with an extra fridge tucked away, practical for maximizing time spent out.
A day head, shared with guests, is also found here in the saloon.
Cabins:
Three full cabins, and not a single bunk bed among them, still the boat's defining feature.
Two guest cabins, but not identical: one with two single beds, the other with a double, so different types of guests can come aboard without anyone sharing a bed they didn't choose.
High-gloss varnished wood in a warm mid-tone, combined with soft, light textiles, gives both cabins a real sense of calm.
The owner's cabin is the boat's quiet centre: a large berth, generous storage, and plenty of natural light through the portholes, with the same finish as the guest cabins but more room to enjoy it.
The ensuite bathroom shares that same natural light, with its own WC and separate shower.
