De Oculus 104 is zonder twijfel een bijzondere verschijning op het water. De Finse ontwerper Kai Salo ontwierp de boot als afstudeerproject aan de School voor Kunst en Design. Uniek aan deze boot is dat er uiteindelijk slechts vier exemplaren zijn geproduceerd. Er was grote belangstelling voor deze nieuwe kijk op de pleziervaart — er werden circa 2700 aanvragen gedaan — maar de oliecrisis aan het begin van de jaren ’70 leidde tot financiële problemen, waardoor het project stopte. De vier geleverde boten bleven het resultaat.


Aan boord is volop ruimte, die dankzij het slimme ontwerp optimaal wordt benut. De boot is voorzien van diverse gemakken, zoals warm water, douche en zonnepaneel. Het riante bovendek biedt plaats aan een groot gezelschap, en in het motorruim ligt een Perkins 4-cilinder dieselmotor van 80 pk, die samen met de boegschroef zorgt voor prima vaareigenschappen van dit bijzonder vaartuig.

The Oculus 104 is undoubtedly a striking sight on the water. Finnish designer Kai Salo designed the boat as his graduation project at the School of Art and Design. What makes this boat unique is that only four were ultimately produced. There was great interest in this new take on recreational boating—approximately 2,700 orders were placed—but the oil crisis in the early 1970s led to financial difficulties, causing the project to be halted. The four boats that were delivered remained the only ones ever produced.


There is plenty of space on board, which is optimally utilized thanks to the clever design. The boat is equipped with various amenities, such as hot water, a shower, and a solar panel. The spacious upper deck can accommodate a large group, and the engine compartment houses an 80 pk Perkins 4-cylinder diesel engine, which, together with the bow thruster, ensures excellent handling characteristics for this unique vessel.
