Notes

1965 Custom Motorsailer, EUR 267,530

Extremely solid long-distance cruiser with extensive total refit 2018–2022

An exceptionally strong and capable steel yacht is offered here, built for serious sailing and extended periods away from port. The vessel is an economical and stable downwind sailor with impressive range and low operating costs – up to approx. 2,500 km without refuelling is entirely realistic.

Under engine alone she consumes only approx. 10 l/h at 6.5 knots, and when motorsailing just 1.2 l/h at 4.5 knots, making her ideal for bluewater cruising.

Comprehensive refit – hull and technical systems in top class

Between 2018 and 2022 the vessel underwent an extensive and professionally executed renovation:

-Underwater hull sandblasted, primed, painted and treated with antifouling

-Freeboard stripped and repainted in Jotun 2-component system

-Rudder removed and bearings replaced

-Shaft withdrawn and new propeller matched to new engine and gearbox

-Through-hull fittings and steel exhaust renewed

-All internal hull surfaces inspected and painted prior to machinery installation

Fuel tanks (2 × 2,000 litres) have been emptied and cleaned, and compromised steel above the starboard tank has been replaced.

Deck, superstructure and safety

-New laid wooden deck followed by synthetic “weathered teak” on side decks, aft deck and bridge deck

-All guardrails raised to minimum 1000 mm

-New aluminium pilothouse with watertight deck hatches

-Observation platform on pilothouse roof

History, origin and major refit

The vessel was built in 1965 near Rotterdam in the Netherlands for a Dutch millionaire, with uncompromising strength, quality and long-range cruising capability as key priorities from the outset.

In the 1980s she was sold to Ipswich, England, and in the early 1990s completed an impressive Atlantic circuit including voyages to the Caribbean, New Orleans, Key West and New York – clear proof of her ocean-going capability and reliability.

She was later sold again in England before the current owner acquired her in 2009. With great respect for the vessel’s history and potential, the owner initiated an ambitious and comprehensive refit from 2018 to 2022. During this period she was technically and structurally upgraded to a level matching modern bluewater requirements, while preserving her original character and quality.

Following the extensive renovation, the vessel completed another long-distance voyage – an 18-month passage from England to Cyprus and back between 2022 and 2024 – demonstrating that she now presents herself as a fully updated and thoroughly proven ocean cruiser, ready for new adventures.
