Romance is an elegant, ocean-going German classic cruiser-racer designed by the renowned naval architect Paul Böhling and built at his shipyard in Hamburg-Harburg in 1950/51. Originally launched as Ursula II, she was conceived to combine outstanding offshore performance with competitive racing capabilities under the KR and RORC rating rules of her time.
Measuring 15.24 m (50 ft) overall, Romance features timeless classic lines with a long keel, canoe stern, spoon bow and graceful sheer, making her a striking example of post-war yacht design. Her fully welded steel hull was highly innovative when built, offering reduced weight and improved performance compared with the riveted construction commonly used at the time. The teak deck, solid timber superstructure, Nordic spruce spars and high-quality bronze fittings further reflect her exceptional craftsmanship and enduring character.
Since her launch in 1951, Romance has logged more than 50,000 nautical miles under sail. Following several dedicated owners, she underwent a comprehensive professional refit between 2005 and 2012, preserving her authenticity while ensuring her continued seaworthiness.
Today, Romance represents a rare opportunity to acquire a genuine classic yacht with outstanding provenance, proven offshore capability, elegant sailing characteristics and timeless appeal—equally suited for classic yacht events, extended cruising or discerning private ownership.
