The Contrast 33 was a hit from the moment it was first presented. The first model was shown in 1978, while this one was built in 1988. Over two hundred and fifty boats have been built and the boat has a solid reputation for quality and is a true classic. The boat was developed without being guided by any measurement rules, but the sailing qualities were put first. She was thus a "contrast" (hence the name) to competitor boats such as Scampi, Linjett 32, Comfort 32, Comfortina and others, which with their wide hulls and narrow sterns were hampered by the now extinct IOR rule. Thus, the Contrast is still a modern boat with its somewhat slimmer and more linear hull shape without speed-limiting measurement rule adaptation. A predecessor to most of today's newly built boats.

"A fast, modern and spacious family boat without compromise", was the unanimous verdict. The Contrast 33 has an LYS of 1.16 and is considered a fast and well-sailing boat. Not least on the race courses, the Contrast 33 has been successful in the Gotland Round, Själland Round and Tjörn Round, among others. The Contrast 33 has many of the attributes that contribute to good performance. She is, as I said, a slightly narrower boat than the usual 33-footers. The bow is clearly sharp and the width in the waterline is moderate. Perfect rudder feel and stiff when the wind picks up.
The Contrast 33 is easy to sail and fast, yet spacious and safe. A well thought-out deck layout with a flat deck makes the 33 easy to work on. The cockpit is very large, and the genoa and main halyards are pulled there. The trimable rig of 7/8 part type without backstay gives together with the hull shape very good speed characteristics. With a furling jib type hood as this boat has or small cross jib you easily sail a Contrast 33 alone.

The cockpit can accommodate a whole family and everyone can sit comfortably, even on the nicely rounded sides. The wide stern has spacious stowage compartments and there are sturdy reinforcements under the winches and bulkhead rails.

Spacious forepeak for two people and double berth in the stern. Functional toilet directly to port of the stairs with newer electrical flushing and septic tank. Two longitudinal sofas provide plenty of space around the dinner table and extra sleeping places if needed. The navigation table is located on the port side.
