De Riva Superamerica was ongeveer 20 jaar lang het vlaggenschip van Riva's glasvezelproductie, bekend en bewonderd over de hele wereld. Ze werd gebouwd in 251 eenheden van 1972 tot 1992. Het was de eerste flying bridge die volledig werd gebouwd door de Riva scheepswerf en werd ontworpen door de architect Giorgio Barilani, die het futuristische en lichtgevende cilindrische atrium bedacht, gelegen onder de voorruit, dat leidt van de dinette naar de twee hutten. Een project dat doet denken aan de artistieke perfectie van Giotto.
