1986 Maxi 999, NOK 350 000,-

Great Maxi 999 currently located in Sardinia, looking for new adventurers. Very solid boat in very good condition and has everything you need for longer voyages. Includes overhauled larger engine (2021), new Selden rig 2019, safety equipment (Bombard life raft, new EPIRB, new Garmin 923 chart plotter and Garmin 18HDx radar ++).

We bought the boat in Dec 2023 to sail it from Norway to the Mediterranean to spend a few months sailing. It has certainly proven why Pelle Pedersen was so well respected as a boat designer.

Overhauled Volvo Penta (Perkins) engine in 2021 MD2030-D with sail drive MS25S-A 28hp. Before installation, the engine was stripped down, cleaned, new gaskets and piston rings, cylinders horned, coolers cleaned, assembled and test driven (1884 hours after 3 hours of test driving). Bellows for sail drive was also replaced, new seals on propeller shaft and o-rings on bearing carrier. We have the documentation.
Engine is very well maintained. She has run 2604.4 hours.
Raw water pump had bearings and seals preemptively changed in Breast before crossing the Biscay, but we didn’t use the engine on the crossing!

In 2022, a new three-bladed folding propeller was installed.

In 2019, a brand new Seldén rig was installed after the forestay failed and the mast fell down. The mast, boom, furler, standing and running rigging were replaced and the sails were adapted to the new rig. Value approx. NOK 160,000. New rig works very well and the boat is very easily sailed by one person. With the new rig, a rod kick was installed, and together with the one-line reefing system, this also makes reefing easy.

The rudder (a known issue on 1986 Maxi models, as they improved the construction in 1987) was repaired and reinforced in Port Adriano in Mallorca (2024).

Great visibility from the tiller and the larger engine and propeller provide immediate response and plenty of power both forward and aft. This boat steers well astern so there is no problem maneuvering in port.

Safety
onboard there is a bombard life raft for 6 people, new rescueme EPIRB and new pack of emergency flares (2024).

comfort outside/inside
The cockpit is spacious. You can tilt up the tiller and you can comfortably fit 8 around the removable cockpit table. There is a full canopy over the cockpit, and the diesel heater also has an outlet in the cockpit.

Easy 3 steps from cockpit into the galley/saloon. We are two adults and two small children, and there is easily enough room for all of us. We had a couple stay with us for a few days without feeling cramped.

The galley on the port side has two sinks with both salt and fresh water taps. There is an electric fridge, gas stove with an oven and two burners. Electric shut-off valve on the gas is operated from the galley.

On the starboard side are the chart table and instruments/switches. There is a fixed DSC VHF with mast head antenna. There is also a gas alarm and control panel for the diesel heater.

Large salon
The salon is spacious with a U-shaped sofa on the port side and a longitudinal sofa on the starboard side. There are plenty of cupboards and shelves on both sides and there is plenty of storage space. On the port side under the sofa is the cooling unit and house batteries.

Double aft cabin
Aft on the port side there is a spacious aft cabin with plenty of room for two. There are shelves and hanging cupboards and room to stand up inside the cabin. There is also an outlet from the heater.

Double front cabin
In the bow, there is plenty of room for two adults in a V-berth. There are shelves and storage under the bed.

Bathroom
On the starboard side is the bathroom with a manual toilet and sink. An additional blackwater tank has been installed to increase capacity.
