With this unique boat you can get all the advantages of wooden boats without the disadvantages. And a boat that sails like a large dinghy (lively, tiller, etc.) but still with the comfort of a large family boat.
The boat was designed by Elvstrøm & Kjærulff for the World Ocean Racing Championships in 1978 (with Paul Elvstrøm as captain) in the ¾ ton class. Built at Jersie Bådværft and fitted out with a high-quality mahogany interior. It sails incredibly well and is still really fast, especially when tacking and in light winds. The tall rig makes it a straight boat, and even though 200 kg of extra lead has been added to the fin keel, it needs to be roped relatively quickly. The boat will probably appeal most to sailors who value sailing characteristics highly, but who still appreciate the great comfort when leeward.
Built in cross-laminated mahogany/epoxy, coated with fiberglass, lead keel. Thoroughly renovated several times (see below).
Sails: mainsail 25 m2 from 2024 with two ropes (Høi Jensen Sail, 7,55 oz dacron), light wind genua 30,2 m2 from 2012 (Quantum Performance Cruising Dacron), jib from 2024 (Høi Jensen Sail, 7,55 oz dacron), original spinnaker, original ”big boy” and storm jib.
Rig:
Fractional rig
Mast and standing rig from John Mast, 2007
Boom, John Mast, year 2000

Solid stand may be included in the sale.
Maintenance:
The current owner has had the boat since 1997 and has been on summer cruises along the Swedish and Norwegian coasts for all years. The boat has been continuously maintained, most recently new sheetcarts and fuel hoses in 2023, new sails (mainsail and jib), new VHF radio with AIS, new freshwater flow meter with display, many new lamps and LED bulbs everywhere, new twin lanterns and renovated electrical system in 2024.
In addition, major renovations of several rounds:
2003: bottom partially replaced, including all bottom logs, part of the keel, reinforced with longitudinal stringers, rudder completely renovated. Designed by a professional boat builder and carried out in collaboration between the boatyard and the current owner. The reason was rot in the original mahogany, and the renovation replaced all the bad wood. No problems since with rot and water ingress. Since then, all continuous installations (bolts, etc.) have been lined with epoxy.
2006 Reinforcement of deck at mast and replacement of deck around bow and stern.
2019 "Beautification project". Sanding down of entire freeboard and deck, painting (Sigmacover 280, 456 and Sigmadur 550 - 7000), new deck covering (including new hatches, two new selftake Andersen winches, Easylock winch tensioners, blocks, compasses, aluminum railing strips, etc.), new teak fender strips, and new non-slip coating on deck (kiwigrip), new sliding hatch
The boat is located in Jyllinge harbor. Currently on land, but will of course be sold launched and in a seaworthy condition, if there is interest. The seller is available in the future with experience and help. The boat is being sold as the current owner has bought a catamaran.
