Boat Overview
A true head-turner, Summer Wind is a classic Tom Colvin Gazelle schooner featuring a unique junk rig. Built tough with 1/4" steel for serious cruising, she has been a trusted tour boat for 16 years, logging over 75,000 miles and carrying over 25,000 passengers. A regular in the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race, she has proven her seaworthiness time and again.
Her spacious deck and cozy interior make her ideal for long voyages or life aboard. Equipped with a Yanmar diesel, she offers a fuel range of nautical miles, with a design that favors efficient sailing over engine reliance. Her versatile junk rig is easy to handle, reducing the need for constant sail adjustments and making her a joy to sail short-handed.
Originally chosen for her character and charm, Summer Wind draws attention wherever she goes. Her classic lines, rugged steel hull, and distinctive rig make her stand out in any marina. The boat's history, durability, and well-maintained systems ensure she's ready for new adventures, whether cruising coastal waters, exploring distant shores, or continuing as a working vessel.
For those looking for a schooner with history, charm, and adventure-ready capabilities, Summer Wind is an opportunity not to be missed.

Owner's Comments
*"When I started my sailing business, I wanted a boat with character--something unique. Growing up in Maine, I admired schooners and didn't want a factory-built boat that looked like everything else in the marina. I knew a Junk-rigged schooner would turn heads, and I was right! She gets noticed!
Tom Colvin's Gazelle was based on an earlier design from his grandfather. Her classic lines reflect her history. Built with 1/4" steel instead of 10-gauge, she's a tank--built for adventure. The longest voyage I've done with her was to Key West and back, and she handled it like a trooper.
She's not the fastest boat, but the joy is in the voyage, not the destination. If you're looking for a unique, head-turning schooner with a solid track record, this is it."*
